Interesting.
In my own games, I approach Craft from a different POV: Craft tells you *what* you make, while Specialties can modify that, such as "In What Circumstances" or "Out of X Material."
Thus, they choose Crafts such as Calligraphy, Architecture, Weapons, Armor, Clothing, Farming Implements, Survival Gear, Barbarian Tools, Clockwork, First Age Weaponry and the like. THey then take specialties such as "Without Appropriate Tools" (useful for getting extra dice to try and compensate for higher Difficulties), or "Jade," "Gold," "Wood."
It has dramatically simplified things.
